THE JABULANI GOOD NEWS CLUB About 80 little children of the Township meet once a week to sing songs, hear stories and enjoy biscuits, hot dogs and soft drinks. JABULANI YOUTH Between 70 and 120 young people meet one afternoon a week in the Jabulani Community Hall to enjoy games, discussions and song, hamburgers and milk shakes. JABULANI BALLROOM DANCE GROUP Our young people have a natural grace and a wonderful ear for music. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Ballroom Dance Group. And when it’s competition time, they get dressed up in the finest outfits we can borrow and show their paces. It has added a new interest to their lives and their infectious enjoyment is evident in the photograph below, right. SPORT Pierre Horn enjoys sport and every Friday afternoon he packs his station wagon with footballers from the Townships and Clouds of Hope for an exuberant afternoon of their favourite sport, soccer. Now he’s looking at netball or hockey for the girls. Did anyone suggest Cricket? It will come …! HOMEWORK–READING AND DRAMA Twice a week three groups each of 20-40 young scholars gather around our facilitators on the football field in Himeville where they discuss homework problems or listen to a story read to them or participate in a drama presentation under a coach. The groups are fluid, participants moving from one to the other as the need or interest arises. In winter or rain they gather in the Jabulani Community Hall. Sibongile Ngubo usually runs the Homework group, helping young students to understand their homework. She never does it for them, nor does she give the answers. Instead, she points them in the right direction with carefully chosen questions and responses. |

Dennie Blomeyer supplies rich Jersey milk weekly. Felicity Champkins and Pierre Horn give freely of their time and efforts. The community of our District lend or donate gowns and outfits for the dancers. |
